Speaking at 1st NRNA Entrepreneur Conference in Sydney: A Landmark for Global Enterprise

COMMUNITY

Great movements often start with a single, bold conversation. On February 5, 2017, in Sydney, we witnessed a historic moment for our community: the first-ever NRNA Entrepreneur Conference.

Coordinated by Dila Kharel, this landmark event was designed to move the diaspora beyond employment and toward ownership. Serving as the Deputy Coordinator and a Featured Speaker, I had the privilege of helping shape a program that brought together the brightest business minds in the Nepali community to discuss one thing: how to build and sustain a new generation of entrepreneurs.

The Vision: From Ideas to Impact

At the time, the goal was revolutionary but simple—to create a formal ecosystem where aspiring business owners could learn from those who had already successfully navigated the Australian and global markets. The conference room was filled with speakers from across the diaspora, each sharing the "unfiltered truth" about capital raising, risk management, and the grit required to scale a venture.

As I addressed the audience, my focus was on the strategic transition from being a professional to becoming a venture leader. We discussed:

  • The Power of Mentorship: Why the diaspora needs to stop competing and start collaborating.

  • Bridging the Gap: How expertise gained in Australia can be a catalyst for economic growth in Nepal.

  • Investment Literacy: Moving from savings to active, high-yield business investments.
