In late November 2024, the Marco Polo Hotel in Hong Kong became the epicenter of Nepali global enterprise. As the Vice President of the Federation of International Nepali Youth Entrepreneurs (FINYE) and a featured speaker, I had the privilege of co-organizing the International Youth Entrepreneur Summit (I-YES)—an event that brought together over 150 visionaries from across the globe, including Australia, the USA, Canada, and the UK.
Under the theme "Empowering Nepali Entrepreneurs: Innovation, Cooperation, and Success," the summit served as a high-octane platform for bridging the gap between global venture standards and local ambition. My dual role as both an organizer and a speaker allowed me to focus on a mission I have championed for over two decades: providing the Nepali diaspora with the strategic frameworks necessary to scale ventures across borders.
Cutting Through the Noise
The summit featured eight key presentations and eight intensive panel discussions. My sessions focused on the practicalities of business research, risk management, and the necessity of "stress-free" execution when managing international investments. With guest speakers like Biswas Dhakal (F1Soft) and industry leaders from global equity funds, we didn't just talk about ideas—we discussed the hard logic of capital raising and sustainable growth.
A Legacy of Global Connection
For me, this event was more than just a conference; it was a demonstration of how we can leverage international networks to create real-world impact. Whether through my 20 years of experience in the Australian venture space or my current work on the ground in Nepal, my goal remains the same: to act as a catalyst for entrepreneurs who refuse to settle for the status quo.
The I-YES 2024 Summit proved that when we combine global expertise with collective innovation, the potential for the Nepali diaspora is limitless. I am proud to have helped lead this initiative, ensuring that our youth aren't just participants in the global economy—but leaders of it.
