From the Streets of Australia to the Heart of Nepal: Remembering the 2015 Earthquake Relief

In April 2015, the world watched in heartbreak as a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. For many of us in Australia, the distance felt unbearable as we saw the devastation of historic landmarks and the displacement of thousands of families. We knew we couldn't just stand by—we had to act.

Turning Empathy into Action

In response to the crisis, our community launched a grassroots fundraising initiative to support the Help Nepal Network (HeNN). We chose HeNN because of their "Practical Philanthropy" approach, ensuring that every dollar raised would go directly toward reconstruction and essential supplies on the ground.

Our campaign took a two-pronged approach to maximize our reach:

• Street Fundraising: We took to the busy streets of Australia with donation tins and heavy hearts. The response from the Australian public was overwhelming. From office workers on their lunch breaks to students chipping in their spare change, the sense of global solidarity was palpable.
