First 90 Days Back in Nepal

A Practical Settlement, Financial & Business Toolkit for Returning Nepalis

Free

Coming home is a transition, not an arrival!

After years abroad, Nepal can feel familiar and new at the same time. You know the language and the people, but how things work today may have changed: banks, paperwork, housing, business and even family expectations. The first 90 days build momentum. They are also when people make the costliest mistakes, like rushing into property, partnerships or investments before they have settled in.

First 90 Days Back in Nepal is a short field guide built around one rule: settle quickly, commit slowly.

Who it's for

  • Permanent returners rebuilding their life in Nepal

  • Trial returners giving Nepal three to six months before they decide

  • Hybrid returners splitting time, income or family between Nepal and another country

What's inside: a 90-day plan in three phases

  • Days 1–30: Stabilise. Your first 72 hours, housing, documents, daily routines and knowing your monthly spending ("burn rate")

  • Days 31–60: Understand. How Nepal works now, finding advisers you can trust, and reconnecting with your network

  • Days 61–90: Build. Choosing your path, testing business ideas before you commit, and investing slowly after checking everything

  • Family, money & boundaries. Handling family expectations about money, and why home can still feel foreign

  • Your Day-90 decision. Looking back at what you learned and planning your next 90 days

A simple traffic-light rule runs through the whole book. Green means do it now. Amber means research and compare first. Red means don't rush: the decision is hard to undo or expensive to get wrong.

The toolkit: 11 worksheets you can print or fill in

  • First 72 Hours Checklist

  • Checklists for Days 1–30, 31–60 and 61–90

Why this book

It doesn't try to cover everything. It gives you a way to make decisions: act fast on choices you can reverse, go slowly on ones you can't, and check what you're told before you move money. Before any big commitment, it asks you to answer four questions: What happens if I'm wrong? How easily can I undo this? What evidence do I have? Whose advice have I checked with someone independent?

This book gives general practical information. It is not legal, tax, investment, immigration or financial advice.
