Return to Nepal Readiness Check

How ready are you — financially, professionally and personally — to build your next chapter in Nepal?

Return prepared, not just inspired.

What this is

A 40-page workbook and online scoring tool for Nepalis abroad who are seriously weighing a move home.

Returning is usually decided on feeling and worked out afterwards. This reverses that order. Forty-five questions across eight weighted areas produce a score out of 100 — and, more usefully, a pattern showing where the plan is thin while there is still time to fix it.

Because having savings is not the same as having financial security. Having relatives is not the same as having a professional network. And remembering Nepal from a holiday is not the same as living in it on a Tuesday morning in month four.

The worksheets

  • A financial runway calculator — how many months your household actually has once the emergency reserve, business capital and setup costs are taken out

  • A staged commitment ladder for anyone planning to invest, from conversations to full commitment

  • Scenario planning across the best, realistic and difficult cases

  • A red-flag check — ten gaps that deserve attention whatever your total

  • The twenty conversations to have before you decide, and four questions for any adviser

  • A reversibility audit of what to keep open until the move is proven

The plans

  • A 90-day preparation plan: investigate, test, then decide

  • The "return before you return" experiment — 60 to 90 days living as a resident, not a guest

  • The first twelve months after you arrive, month by month, including the month-four dip

  • A re-score tracker, so readiness improves because the evidence improved

Who it's for

If you are

What usually decides the outcome

A mid-career professional, 35–50

Whether your income can be replaced, carried or rebuilt

A business owner based overseas

Whether the business survives you not being there

An entrepreneur returning to build

Whether the idea survives contact with local customers

A family with school-age children

Schooling, and whether every adult genuinely agreed

Approaching retirement

Healthcare access, and whether the income is truly passive

Second generation, raised overseas

The gap between inherited Nepal and current Nepal

Investing without relocating yet

Governance, and whether you can verify from a distance

Returning to care for parents

What happens to your own household and work

A remote worker making Nepal the base

Connectivity, tax residency and client time zones

It is also for the person who has already decided and wants to arrive without avoidable mistakes.

How it works

Take it online in about twenty minutes and the scoring is done for you, with your weakest areas and next actions at the end. Or download the workbook, print it, and fill it in with a pen — the questions and weightings are identical either way.

Score the situation that exists today, not the one you hope will exist after you arrive. The most valuable answer in the workbook may be "I do not know yet."

What it won't do

It will not tell you to return, and it will not tell you to stay.

A score of 90 guarantees nothing. A score of 50 does not close the door. Deciding to delay because you found a real weakness is the check doing its job.
